The Flying Black Wolf

Life is daily, is it not? And then, some wonderful surprises show up.

And without the daily stuff, the surprise won't show up; or the wishes you've made. In other words, daily life gives the stepping stones to hopes, dreams and the new.

After a month of near-death situations with my dear friend, followed by a crazed incident with bed bugs from the hospital (dear Lord, help me) - I took a break from the daily work of loving, helping, caring, supporting and cooking and landed in the local park system.

There, unbeknownst to me, rest massive rock formations that held ancient history in their weight. You can feel it, just looking at them. Rocks, any rock, make me happy and I needed these rocks to calm my soul.

The dailiness of life is so overwhemling sometimes, especially when people you love are in crisis or facing death. Somehow, standing near these rock and pressing my tired out body against them restored balance. One big energetic crystal, around for millions of years; and, all I want to do is rest on it in hopes of magic renewal.

Definitely, a desire to get grounded as daily life is always a roller coaster to ride. Yes, grounded was what I needed.

After a couple of deep breaths, I let it all go and released the month's tensions to the Universe. Quite literally, sometimes daily life is too much to hold, and we must let go and surrender what cannot be controlled.

As the peace poured in, I stood there in front of my boulders of comfort and felt myself become ONE with the solid grounding energy it offered.

Then, suddenly,

and without warning

to my left

I see the body of a large black animal flying

flying over the top of a boulder

flying straight toward me.

In the span of 3 seconds, I think to myself:

Is that a big black wolf flying over a rock and coming my way?

LANDING NEARLY AT MY FEET

Wiggling with the greatest puppy-like deliight

lay a big black Doodle dog

wiggling and squirming and begging for belly rubs.

In the distance I hear shouting, "FIN, FIN, WHERE ARE YOU?"

Rounding the trail I see a couple running toward me with worried faces. "I'm so sorry," they shout, "he went charging ahead and flew right over the rock, we didn't know where he went to!"

"It's okay," I assured, "I just wasn't sure what kind of animal was rushing toward me. How old is he?," I ask.

"Finnegan is just a puppy," they claimed. "Well, he's a BIG puppy, that's for sure," I responded. And away they went, tails wagging.

I hadn't really moved from my grounded stance. It was like I was standing, witness to a surprise arrival, but not being shaken from the surprise.

The mystic in me wondered....

What does that big doodle dog symbolize?

Will something good come from out of the blue?

Will my new work contract work out?

Will my prayers for love unfold?

Will I win that art contest I applied to?

What is it Finnegan wants to teach me?

If I could take a guess, it would be to smile more and enjoy the arrival of the unexpected, as it will most surely come my way.

Yes, the playful surprises always arrive when we aren't looking and busy living.
